Cleanse
Okay, I'm doing a cleanse. Its that Lemon Juice Maple Syrup cleanse. (Stop Laughing!)
But it is suppose to be extremely good for you on a variety of levels. I have two friends that recently did the cleanse and they look and feel amazing! Has anyone out there done a cleanse before? Any suggestions? Its for 10 days, so we'll see how it goes.
This morning I ate some food but then made a batch of juice and am drinking only the juice for the rest of the day (and for 9 more days). You are suppose to stop having cravings after two or three days. Here is a clip of what I found a master cleanse is good for:
"Cleansing is necessary to keep our bodies functioning at their best. Pollution from the environment, oxidative stress, and additives (pesticides, chemical colors and flavorings) in our water and food are stored in organs and fatty tissue and build up in our bodies over time. Cleansing this toxic load can help to boost the immune system, improve vitality, get rid of headaches, allergies, fatigue, pain, arthritis and other symptoms, and can result in substantial weight loss."
I would put up "Before" and "After" pictures but that's way too embarrassing! So you'll just have to take my word for it. I'll be posting daily about how I feel and how its going. Should be interesting....

My buddy's wife did this and I was there when she came off the cleanse... she literally couldn't eat a whole meal... trippy...
Just curious how long the results make a difference... and what sorts of results do you get?
I did a 10 day fasting juice cleanse once. I think it was a good experience in terms of a test of will, but I was cold all the time and I experienced cramping in my quads since after a short while your muscles start breaking down to give your body its required protein... unfortunately your lean muscle tissue takes a hit before your fat does. I did lose ten pounds though, which was back on by the end of the month. The most interesting outcomes were bathroom related and I don't believe these results can be explained by science.
It kind of sounds like you might just be starving yourself.
Interesting... I've never done this or heard of it for that matter. I'm curious to hear how it goes! Hopefully well. =)

Thanks for posting everyone! Tim: Basically the purpose of the cleanse it to get rid of all the gross hormones pesticides and other yucky chemical debrie that gets stuck in the linings of your intestines and colon. One benefit is weight loss, but most things that I've read show that its temporary or that you gain back about half of what you've lost. My friend Jeff did the cleanse and his skin looks so clean and good and he lost 37 pounds. But like anything else, if you don't change your eating habits after the cleanse you'll probably not keep it off...
Hey Anna!
I have done the cleanse twice and I really find that the benefits are amazing. After my first cleanse I kicked my addiction and need for coffee. I am also an emotional eater, so if I am really stressed or worried about something I tend to increase my food take. During my second cleanse I focused on listening to my body's needs and desires. You'd be amazed at how keen your sense of smell is after not eating for 10 days. I have a better understanding of when I am full now and I changed my eating habits dramatically. Now I eat loads of fruits and veggies with a limited amount of protein and grains... and I allow myself to enjoy a treat now and then. I plan on continuing the cleanses every 4 months until I've lost all the weight I want to lose. I've decided that with each cleanse I will focus on another negative factor in my life that I need to eliminate or a positive factor I need to implement. Let me know when you want to try your cleanse again and perhaps I could do it with you... we could keep each other motivated :)
did you feel really really weak? How did you get stuff done? That's the only thing I worry about. :)
Elise
I didn't feel weak - I just couldn't stay up past 10 pm or I'd get really cranky! I didn't finish it though, so I'm planning on probably starting again next week! :)
