Laker Game. Thoughts. Possible Songs

Yesterday Michael and I walked downtown and watched the Laker Game. It was very very sad. You know it's funny. The Lakers made it all the way to the very top of the finals - and yet they lost. Which means that the only thing people think or say is that they lost the finals - not that they were good enough to make it all the way to the top to begin with.
Since I've been so tuned into American Idol lately (for obvious reasons) it's interesting how I can judge people that I've never met for maybe being off key or not being that good - and yet they are taking a MASSIVE risk by even getting out there in the first place! Now if I was asked specifically to give that person feedback (like I'm asking all you guys to do) that would be one thing. But when I find myself slamming people for having the courage to even try - that's pretty mean.
I guess I'm just sensitive since I'll be really putting myself out there for ridicule soon! :)
What do you guys think? Is it wrong to "gossip" about people that we don't even know - like celebrities?? Like, if I didn't like someone's acting in a movie that I saw - should I even talk about it??
I'm very interested to hear your opinions on the matter.
On another note, I've listed some possible songs to try out for you guys. Let me know which ones you'd be interested in hearing. Also, feel free to post additional songs that I could add to my list. I'm excited to hear ideas!

You should sing country. =) I guess if you are really into the jazzy and opera type stuff though, you should stick to what you're comfortable with. I still think you're awesome for putting yourself out there. You have an amazing voice.

It just seems like the judges will want to hear something that would make them want to give you a contract, and country and pop seem to be the two main options that the judges and America respond to. Just my $.02 =)

I think you should sing Time to Say Goodbye, just because I was thinking the other day that you'd real do a beautiful job with this song. Why did that pop into my head? Have I heard you sing it before??? I don't know if it'd be good for Idol, though.

Hi Anna,

I just happened to find your blog when I was looking for something else. I've watched my share of American Idol, and I wanted to give you my honest opinion. Obviously you are a talented singer who might have a great career in stage or theatre...but..if you are even considering American Idol, you'd have to show them what they are looking for..something that makes them think you could be successful in the main stream..not just wheter or not you can sing in tune. Even your "shot through the heart" felt like a talent show performance..not rock..or maybe even pop. Are there any songs on the radio that you like, or sing along two when you're in the car or in a store? I think you need to try very heard to find a more popular song choice. But you are incredible and best of luck to you.
